Richard's Story
Richard Dennison’s story begins in Ireland, where a lifelong passion for machinery and groundworks first took hold. In January 1992, at the age of 21, he moved to Lancaster to take up the role of Production Director at Dennison Trailers. At the time, Dennison Trailers was already a well-established family business, but under Richard’s leadership—alongside his cousin James—the company expanded dramatically, earning a reputation as one of the UK and Ireland’s most respected trailer manufacturers. Their innovative designs and quality engineering made Dennison Trailers a trusted name not only across the UK and Ireland but throughout Europe, supplying businesses that demanded reliability, precision, and durability.

Despite the scale and success of Dennison Trailers, Richard’s true passion lay in plant and machinery but specifically top of ground projects, where results are instantly visible and impactful. Determined to follow this calling, he set out independently to focus on grading yards, sports pitches, horse arenas, and other projects where precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail are on full display. For Richard, there’s little satisfaction in buried pipes or hidden progress; the real reward is a perfectly finished surface that speaks for itself.

Over the years, Richard has delivered a wide range of projects, from plant hire and groundworks to soil stabilisation, house building, and marina construction. He has managed complex developments, solved difficult site challenges, and consistently turned ambitious plans into high-quality, tangible results. Today, Richard operates independently, bringing in trusted subcontractors as needed and often collaborating directly with clients on-site. His decades of practical experience, hands-on expertise, and uncompromising eye for detail mean he doesn’t just manage projects—he guarantees precision, reliability, and exceptional results that clients can see and trust. Whether it’s a challenging groundworks project, a large-scale development, or a precision grading task, Richard combines expertise, passion, and a hands-on approach to deliver sites that exceed expectations every time.
DENNISON & SHARPGRADE
Our SharpGrade Decision – Sealed in Munich

Back in 2019, we travelled to Munich not just to finalise a dealership agreement with SharpGrade, but to meet the people behind the brand and get a true sense of who we’d be working with long-term.

We had already been in contact with Rodney and Angela Sharp—the husband-and-wife team who own and run SharpGrade—for around 18 months before meeting them in person. From the very beginning, their family-oriented approach, honesty, and passion for what they do stood out.

For us, this was important. We’ve always believed in dealing directly with the people who design and build the equipment—not being treated as just another number. Meeting Rodney and Angela in person confirmed everything we’d felt during those months of conversation: they are passionate about their products, their customers, and the reputation they’ve built.

While at the exhibition, we also had the opportunity to speak privately with an experienced American contractor already using the SharpGrade system. This wasn’t just any user—he was responsible for converting and relaying 50–60 ballparks a year and had previously relied on a different brand of grading attachment. After just three years of continuous use, his old machines had worn out so badly they couldn’t even be rebuilt—they had to be scrapped and replaced.

What really stood out was his honest comparison. While the SharpGrade system cost more upfront, he was now operating four units, with the oldest already four years in service—and he proudly admitted he had never had to put a spanner on a single one. That level of reliability, durability, and performance gave us complete confidence going forward, and we knew this was the right system to invest in.
For us, it wasn’t just impressive—it made sealing the deal a certainty. We weren’t just buying a product; we were partnering with a family-run business that shares our values of quality, trust, and craftsmanship—people who stand behind every piece of equipment they build.
